Privacy Policy
Effective October 28, 2026
In short: Dr Mark does not collect, store or share any personal data. There is no account, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. Your documents and settings stay on your Mac. Text is only sent over the internet when you use an AI feature, and then only to the AI provider you configured yourself.
This policy explains how Dr Mark (the “App”), published by Vivien Roggero LLC (“we”, “us”), handles information. It applies to the App on macOS and to this website.
1. Information we collect
We do not collect any information. The App has no user accounts, contains no analytics, crash-reporting or advertising SDKs, and does not send any data to us or to servers we operate.
2. Data stored on your Mac
The App stores the following only on your Mac, inside its sandboxed container:
- Your documents, which remain where you saved them in standard Markdown format.
- Preferences such as appearance, font size, auto-save, open tabs and the Open Recent list.
- Permission bookmarks that let the App reopen files and folders you selected, as required by macOS.
- AI settings you enter: your chosen provider, models and any API keys. API keys are saved in the App’s local preferences on your Mac and are never sent to us.
Deleting the App and its container removes this data. You can also remove API keys at any time in Settings → AI.
3. Optional AI features
AI features are off until you add an API key or a local model server, and they run only when you explicitly choose an AI action. When you do:
- The selected text, or the whole document if nothing is selected, together with your prompt, is sent directly from your Mac to the provider you configured — for example NVIDIA, Google (Gemini), OpenAI or Anthropic — using your own API key.
- When you add a key or refresh models, the App asks that provider for its list of available models.
- If you choose “Local”, requests go to a model server running on your own computer and do not leave your Mac.
We never receive, see or store this content. Data sent to a third-party provider is governed by that provider’s own terms and privacy policy, which you accepted when you obtained your API key. Do not send content you are not allowed to share with that provider.
4. Network access
Apart from the AI requests described above, which you start, the App only uses the network to load remote images that your own documents reference.
5. Sharing and selling of data
We do not sell, rent, share or trade personal information, because we do not collect any.
6. Apple
If you download the App from the Mac App Store, Apple may collect information about your purchase and usage under Apple’s Privacy Policy. We may receive aggregated, anonymous statistics from Apple (such as download counts), which do not identify you.
7. This website
This website uses no cookies, analytics or tracking scripts. Our hosting provider may keep standard server logs, such as IP address and pages requested, for security and operations.
8. Children
The App is not directed to children and collects no personal information from anyone, including children under 13.
9. Your rights
Because we hold no personal data about you, there is nothing for us to access, correct, export or delete. All data the App uses is on your Mac and under your control. If you have a question or request under laws such as the GDPR or CCPA, contact us and we will respond.
10. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update this page and its effective date. Material changes will also be noted in the App’s release notes.
